"The Women in My Life . . ."

An attempt to capture a portrait of the two most beautiful women in my life . . .

I bounced the flash off the wall behind me to try and lessen the shadows and illuminate their faces evenly.

In addition, I tried my Ninong's advice of cropping body joints in-camera, and hey, it works just like as he explained it.

Just ordered two books from Amazon, and hopefully, it helps me to learn more about lighting and composition.

We'd have to wait and see if my next mother-child portrait improves or not, hahahahaha!

It is a wonderful time to be a Dad.

"The Magic of Photoshop"

Isn't it amazing how we can now edit images with blazing speeds and countless post-processing options?

I'm a newbie in using Photoshop, and I can't help but be astounded with all the options and effects that one can use to post process a photo.

Notice that in this specific photo of my good friends Chep and Kaye, I was able to render the background B/W while maintaining color for the two of them.

This is just one effect that I can use to emphasize the subjects of my images, imagine all the other possibilities!

AHM-MAH-ZING!!!

"Wanted: My Carnal's Replacement"

. . at o anong bilis na lumipas . . .

Mabuhay ka kaibigan!

"Tama na yan, inuman na . . ."

Gone were the days when I'd get drunk and go home without remembering how the F@#k I got to my room.

All that's left are a few beers and a poker game here and there. But hey, that to me, is the important part, to be with my closest friends.

So cheers to all of you hard drinks out there, I hope you like this portrait I took of you all.

Life is good!

"And there was LIGHT . . ."

Yesterday, my GG and I went to our GF's studio at Scout Rallios to assist in a pre-nup shoot featuring our friends Jonas and Joy. It was my second time to assist our GF in an actual shoot and I must say, I learned a lot from the experience.

In every setup, we had to place a grey card under the lighting that would be used for the photographs. This would serve as a neutral tone which would then be used to fine tune the white balance settings of the photos. In other words, the grey card is used to make sure that the colors of the pictures would be as accurate as possible to what our eyes really see.

It was truly a learning experience that I would welcome anytime again. In fact, I'm slowly feeling that besides events photography, I think portraiture would also be one of my more favorite type of discipline.
